Thursday Purseday: A Clutch for a Dinner Party

I love TV Shows from the 1950s and 1960s. I wanted to see what a "Mad Menesque" Dinner Party looked like when produced and filmed in the 1960s so I turned to Bewitched. Samantha's husband Darrin was an ad man. I'd been thinking of Bewitched since hearing that the pilot's writer, Sol Saks, passed away at 100 a couple of weeks ago.

In Season 1, Episode 9, after Endora promises to curb her witchery for the evening, Samantha arranges a dinner for Darrin's parents and her mother to meet. Did men really wear suits to a dinner party in the 1960s? Everything seems so refined, don't you think?

I wasn't much feeling Samantha's bow, but thought a clutch or handbag with a bow would dress up a simple black wiggle dress nicely.

The Picks: Valentino 'Medium Lacca' Bow Tote, $895, available at Nordstrom; Carlo Fellini Bow-Detail Clutch, Fushia, Pewter, $55, available at Lord and Taylor.
What would you wear to a Mad Men-themed dinner party? How would you accessorize?

Ciao Bella!
