Tips: Achieving Perfect Hair All Week Long

A Style Similar to How My Mom Wore Hers When I Was a Toddler
Ever wonder how everyone looked perfectly coiffed in the 1950s and 1960s? They had skills and tricks and it all started with the blow out and the set.

In the March 1963 issue of American Girl, Glynne interviews Mr. Patrick who advises readers on how to achieve perfect hair with little fuss all week long.

Growing up I hated curly hair. More than anything I wanted my sister's fine hair that fell in loose waves. She wanted my hair and spent hours in curlers trying for what both Karen (below) and I could do easily, as long as San Francisco remained fog free - a carefree wave (Thursday's style) without any fuss.

My bangs were another story, completely untamed. For most of junior high school I slept with my bangs in pin curlers or taped to achieve the look modeled by Debbie in the first collage.

Did you - or do you - go to great lengths for perfect hair?

Ciao Bella!
