In My Closet: Reimagining an Outfit

Sometimes, no matter how careful you are, you snag your dress. If you're lucky, the snag isn't noticeable. If you're really unlucky, your find is ruined.

I got an amazing 1960s Jackie O-styled dress for our honeymoon. It never made it on the honeymoon because I snagged the back of the dress. While the snag was only noticeable if you got really close, it unfortunately would grow with normal wear.

I tried to save the dress by raising the hemline to just above the snag. If I did this, the skirt would now be 14 inches in length - a little too short for me to wear comfortably, not a workable solution.

I next played with the idea of layering: wearing my now tunic over a skirt. I had a silhouette that I could work with (not an outfit yet as the cotton skirt didn't really go with the knit). My next task was to find either a solid navy or a navy with polka dots pleated skirt.

What do you think? Do you try to give new life to damaged pieces?

Ciao Bella!
